Welcome to Dzign by Jamie

My name is Jamie, I started internet life as a lampwork bead artist.  But living in northwestern Wisconsin made it difficult to create during the long cold winter months.  Especially since my "studio" is in a garage heated only by a wood stove.

To keep myself and my creative mind busy during those down times I started making hand stamped metal jewelry.  And that was the start of my second passion.

I love hand stamping metal.  Believe it or not hammering on metal is very relaxing and stress relieving!  There's nothing like whacking stuff with a hammer and creating something beautiful.

For a while I had to shops opened.  But that was taking up too much time.  So I combined my lampwork shop Glasstastic Treasures and my Metal Amore jewelry shop into one great place to shop: Dzign by Jamie.

You can find my items at these online venues:

What's New?

Well, let me tell you what's new.  Dzign by Jamie is all new.  And hand stamped metal jewelry is new.  Who knew!

I love creating a scene with a couple design stamps.  It feels good to take some single stamps and make one great scene.  Like this floral necklace.

I also do personalized jewelry. These items make great gifts because you can put children's name, grand children's, and even anniversary dates.  We women love this stuff. So guys, if you're reading this and you don't know what to get that special gal in your life, just let me know, I'll be glad to help.  As a matter of fact, below are just a couple examples.

What are lampwork beads?  Well, I'm glad you asked.  Lampwork beads are made using a torch called a burner.  Most burners use duel fuels of propane and oxygen.  This combination creates a very hot flame to melt solid glass into a moldable substance.  It's funny, because I remember thinking that the glass will melt and drip like an icicle.  But, that's not the case.  Molten glass likes to stick to itself.  So when melted, it draws back upon itself.  With that property we are able to melt a section of glass rod and wrap it around a small metal rod, called a mandrel, and by building up layers of glass, we can create a wonderful piece of art.  It's like a sculpture in glass, transforming before your eyes.

Little grains of sand that form truly unique glass treasures!

Lampwork beads are:

  • Fun
  • Whimsical
  • Stylish
  • Collectible
